Half-Year Boom: Customs Posts ₦3.7 Trillion, Up 25%

The Federal Government says the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) pulled in a whopping N3.7 trillion in revenue during the first half of 2025—beating budget expectations and outpacing last year’s figures.

Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, revealed this at the 62nd meeting of the NCS Board in Abuja. According to him, the figure is 12.5% higher than projected and 25% more than what was collected in the same period in 2024.

Edun praised Customs for its strong performance but noted that more reforms are needed to hit the government’s ambitious revenue goals. He highlighted the upcoming National Single Window platform, which will speed up trade processing, cut costs, reduce delays, and make Nigeria a more attractive destination for investment.

The Minister stressed that these reforms align with President Bola Tinubu’s broader economic strategy—stabilising inflation, strengthening the naira, and building a transparent, tech-driven trade system to boost private investment and sustainable growth.

Meanwhile, the NCS Board also approved 3,312 officer promotions and announced steps to improve governance within the Service, reinforcing professionalism and institutional capacity.
