Badagry’s Literary Prodigy, Victory Ashaka Wins Literature Category at Lord’s Achievers Award 2025

Badagry-born poet and spoken word artist, Victory Ashaka, has clinched the Icon of Impact in Literature award at the 2025 edition of the prestigious Lord’s Achievers Award.

Ashaka, celebrated for his outstanding contributions to literature and the arts, described the recognition as both humbling and deeply symbolic. Reflecting on his journey, he recalled how his passion for poetry was first discovered a decade ago.

“The journey began exactly 10 years ago when, at the age of 12, my father took me to my very first literary and art competition. It was on that stage I first discovered the gift of poetry and the passion that has shaped my path,” he said according to report by Citymood Badagry .

The night held a particularly emotional moment for him as his father stepped on stage to present the award.

“The most memorable moment for me was seeing my father hand me the prize. It felt like everything had come full circle, from the beginning of my journey to this proud achievement,” Ashaka added.

From a 12-year-old boy discovering his gift, to becoming an award-winning writer and performer, Ashaka’s story has been hailed as a source of inspiration. His consistency, creativity, and dedication continue to bring pride not only to him but also to the entire Badagry community.
