Olorunda LCDA Chairman, Kumayon distributes 250 Students with Free GCE Forms

The Executive Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon (APK), in a major step towards promoting inclusive education and youth empowerment, has distributed free General Certificate of Education (GCE) forms to 250 indigent students and youths across the council area.

The initiative, which took place in Olorunda LCDA, was witnessed by top government functionaries including the Vice Chairman, Hon. Adele Bolaji Solomon; Chief of Staff, Hon. Akinyele Cornelius; Leader of the House, Hon. Dauda Aina; councillors and other principal officers of the council.

Speaking during the official presentation of the forms, Hon. Kumayon described the exercise as a deliberate intervention aimed at removing financial barriers that often prevent young people from advancing in their educational pursuits. He noted that the gesture was not merely about giving out forms, but about “opening doors of opportunity, nurturing talents, and ensuring that no child in Olorunda is left behind because of financial challenges.”

The council boss explained that the intervention, valued in millions of naira, directly impacts 250 households across the five wards in Olorunda LCDA. He further revealed that his administration had also resolved to sponsor the education of the three best-performing beneficiaries who succeed in the GCE examination, stressing that the move underscores the council’s commitment to building a strong educational foundation for future leaders.

“Our administration has made it clear that education for every child is a priority. This initiative demonstrates our deliberate commitment to raising the next generation of leaders. I believe in the greatness of our young people, and I am confident that Greater Olorunda begins with them today,” Kumayon declared.

Residents and beneficiaries hailed the programme as a life-changing opportunity, praising the chairman for investing in the future of the council’s youth.

The empowerment scheme forms part of Hon. Kumayon’s broader vision of “Greater Olorunda,” which is anchored on education, youth development, and community advancement.
