LASU’s VC’s Husband Donates 550-Seater Hall to Epe Campus

The Lagos State University (LASU), Epe campus, has received a major boost to its infrastructure with the donation of a 550-seater auditorium by Mr. Babatunde Olatunji-Bello, husband of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello.

The edifice, built and donated by Mr. Olatunji-Bello—who is also the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC)—was officially commissioned today by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

In a statement shared via his official Facebook page, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended Mr. Olatunji-Bello for what he described as a remarkable gesture of service to the state and a lasting contribution to the development of education in Lagos.

“Today, I commissioned a 550-seater auditorium at the Epe campus of Lagos State University generously donated by the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Mr. Olatunji Bello, as part of his commitment to education and service to our state.

This building is a space where ideas will be shared and where our students will be inspired to aim higher. It will serve as a hub for academic discourse, cultural exchange, and strategic gatherings, enriching the learning environment for our students and inspiring them to aim for excellence,” the governor said.

Sanwo-Olu further noted that the donation aligns with his administration’s THEMES+ Agenda for education and expressed gratitude for the contribution, stressing that such acts of generosity create lasting opportunities for students.

“For our students, this is a gift of opportunity. I believe it will enrich their learning and strengthen LASU’s culture of excellence for years to come,” he added.

The newly commissioned auditorium is expected to serve as a rallying point for lectures, seminars, conferences, and other academic engagements, thereby reinforcing LASU’s reputation as a leading citadel of learning in Nigeria.
