A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Badagry, Hon. Metose Isaiah Dansu, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is well on course to secure victory in the 2027 presidential election, citing what he described as the administration's achievements in infrastructure, economic reforms and national development.
Dansu, who serves as the Supervisory Councillor for Budget, Planning and Statistics in Badagry Local Council Development Area (LCDA), also described the emergence of Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and Princess Damilola Sonayon James as the APC governorship and deputy governorship candidates in Lagos State as "a dream come true," saying their ticket has renewed hope among party faithful, especially in Badagry.
Speaking during an interview with journalists, the APC stalwart said the Tinubu administration has made significant progress in key sectors of the economy through reforms aimed at stabilising the naira, improving foreign reserves, reducing debt and attracting investments.
He also pointed to major infrastructure projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, describing them as transformational projects that would improve connectivity, boost commerce and accelerate economic growth across the country.
According to Dansu, Dr. Hamzat's years of experience as Deputy Governor, coupled with his contribution to the implementation of the state's THEMES Agenda, make him the ideal candidate to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
He equally praised Princess Damilola Sonayon James, describing the Badagry-born politician as a committed and experienced public servant whose emergence as deputy governorship candidate has brought pride to the division.
"For us in Badagry, this is the fulfilment of a long-awaited aspiration. We are confident that Dr. Hamzat and Princess Damilola Sonayon James will build on the achievements of the current administration and take Lagos to greater heights," he said.
On security, Dansu urged the incoming Lagos State administration to prioritise the recruitment of qualified indigenes into the proposed State Police, arguing that residents who understand the local terrain would strengthen intelligence gathering and community policing.
He also called for greater support for local vigilante groups and the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps through improved funding, training and equipment, while advocating rewards for police officers who distinguish themselves in service.
The APC leader further paid glowing tributes to several political leaders whom he credited for mentoring and supporting his political journey. Among those he acknowledged were President Bola Tinubu, Lagos APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, APC Apex Leader in Badagry Division, Prince Chief Rabiu Adio Oluwa, Apex Leader of APC in Badagry West LCDA, Hon. Dr. Hontonyon Joseph Bamgbose, and Lagos State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Sule.
Dansu also revealed that he was recently confirmed as the Coordinator of Supervisory Councillors for the 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State, describing the appointment as another opportunity to contribute to grassroots governance and development.
As Nigerians prepare for the 2027 general elections, the APC chieftain appealed to citizens to remain peaceful, uphold democratic values and actively participate in the electoral process by voting for candidates of their choice.
