Social Analyst Calls for Continuity as Whingan’s Record Sparks 2027 Re Election Push

A social and political analyst from Badagry, Babajide Akran, has urged constituents to rethink the long standing tradition of changing their representatives in the House of Representatives after just one term, describing continuity as the missing link to sustained federal presence and development in the constituency.

In an open message to the people of Badagry, Akran noted that while many residents often expect new faces to automatically attract progress, the reality of Nigeria’s political system rewards experience, strong networks and strategic positioning.

He explained that lawmakers who spend time building influence in Abuja are better placed to attract projects and opportunities to their communities, adding that repeatedly replacing representatives just as they begin to gain relevance only pushes Badagry back to square one.

According to him, true democracy allows freedom of choice, but wisdom should guide decisions, especially when a representative begins to translate experience into tangible benefits for the people.

Meanwhile, the current Member representing Badagry Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, has declared his intention to seek re election in 2027.

Whingan, widely regarded as a strong and vibrant young voice in the House of Representatives, has already made a notable impact despite being one of the youngest lawmakers in the chamber.

He has sponsored over 15 bills, raised several motions of national and Badagry interest, and facilitated numerous empowerment projects and programmes across the constituency.

The lawmaker has remained vocal on issues affecting Badagry, consistently pushing for development and federal attention for the ancient town and its surrounding communities.

In a recent remark, Whingan described himself as “the number one marketer of Badagry today,” a statement many youths in the area say reflects his visibility and advocacy for the constituency at the national level.

Across Badagry, growing numbers of young people are already clamouring for his re election in 2027, citing what they describe as unprecedented and sterling performance in office.

Adding to his rising profile in the National Assembly, Whingan currently serves as the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources, Upstream, a strategic position rarely held by a first term legislator.

For many observers, Akran’s call for continuity aligns with the ongoing debate in Badagry over whether sustained representation, backed by proven performance, may finally unlock the long awaited development the constituency has yearned for over the years.
