Olorunda Local Council Development Area on Friday, January 30, 2026, officially flagged off the Measles–Rubella Vaccination Campaign, with the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, taking the lead in mobilising residents and driving awareness across the council area.
The flag off ceremony attracted health officials, community leaders, key stakeholders and residents, marking the commencement of a coordinated effort to protect children against measles and rubella, two preventable but potentially dangerous childhood diseases.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon reaffirmed the full backing of the council for the vaccination exercise, describing it as a critical public health intervention designed to safeguard children and improve overall community health. He stressed that preventing avoidable diseases remains a top priority of his administration, noting that a healthy child population is essential to the future development of Olorunda.
The Chairman urged parents, guardians and caregivers to ensure that all eligible children are presented for vaccination, calling on residents to cooperate fully with health workers and vaccination teams deployed across the LCDA to guarantee wide coverage and success of the campaign.
In a show of hands on leadership, Hon. Ajose went beyond advocacy by embarking on supportive supervision visits to vaccination teams within the council area. During the visits, he encouraged frontline health workers and reiterated the council’s commitment to providing the necessary support to ensure the smooth implementation of the exercise.
He concluded by restating his administration’s unwavering dedication to programmes and policies that promote the wellbeing, safety and healthy future of every child in Olorunda LCDA, assuring residents that child health and community welfare will continue to receive priority attention.
