Residents of Pota community have showered heartfelt appreciation on the Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon Babatunde Hunpe, following the full renovation and modernization of the Pota Primary Healthcare Centre, a project many locals describe as long overdue and deeply impactful.
In a letter jointly signed by key community stakeholders: the Baale, Chief Hunpe Whedeyon; Youth Leader, Comrade Dasi Samuel; CDA Chairman, Hon Sunday Posu; and CDA Secretary, Hon Joel Amosu, the leaders praised the council chairman for transforming the once dilapidated facility into a functional and dignified healthcare centre.
They expressed their gratitude to the executive chairman, the legislative arm, and the management team of the local government, noting that the project has renewed the community’s confidence in grassroots governance.
According to the letter, “On behalf of the good people of Pota community, we express our appreciation to the Executive Chairman, the Legislative Arms and Management Team of our great Local Government for renovating the Pota Health Centre into a modern one. Sir, we are proud of you for making our local government a smart city within 100 days in office. We wish you a successful tenure. Thank you, and God bless you.”
The Pota PHC became a symbol of neglect only a few months ago after Badagry Today published an investigative report exposing the shocking state of the facility, from structural decay to unsafe conditions for both workers and patients. The report sparked widespread concern and called for urgent government intervention.
Barely four months after assuming office, Chairman Hunpe promised to remodel the health centre and restore it to a dignified state. True to his word, the facility has now been fully rebuilt, upgraded, and officially commissioned on Friday, November 29, 2025.
For many residents, the commissioning marks not just the end of a long-running challenge but the beginning of renewed trust in governance and improved healthcare delivery in the community.
Pota elders, youths, and residents say the project has given them fresh hope — and reaffirmed the belief that when leadership listens, communities thrive.
