The Ogbenla Area Muslim Community in Aradagun, Badagry came alive with colour, joy and heartfelt celebration as Alhaji ADB Gafar Muritala Meyon, Chairman of the APC in Badagry Local Government, was turbaned as the new Baba Adini. The ceremony formed part of the community’s 15th Anniversary Jumat Service, Turbaning and Merit Award Celebration, drawing a large crowd of worshippers, political figures and respected Islamic scholars.

The atmosphere was warm and spirited as notable leaders joined the congregation to honour Meyon. Among the dignitaries were Hon Oluwaseun Whingan, Member of the House of Representatives representing Badagry Federal Constituency; Hon Mobolaji Ogunlende, Lagos Commissioner for Youth and Social Development; Hon Olarenwaju Ibrahim Kayode, Commissioner for Home Affairs; and Hon Babatunde Hunpe, Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government.

Leading the prayers and spiritual rites was Alhaji Uwais Akewusola, Chief Imam of Badagry Division, accompanied by an array of clerics who offered blessings and words of guidance to the newly installed Baba Adini.

The ceremony featured moments of reflection, goodwill messages, cultural displays and deep expressions of unity, making it a memorable milestone for the Ogbenla Muslim Community. It also marked a significant honour for Alhaji Gafar Meyon, whose new role as Baba Adini was celebrated with warmth, admiration and collective pride.
