Badagry witnessed a bright moment of youthful excellence as Awumenu Sewanu Fisher, an undergraduate of the Faculty of Law at Lagos State University, emerged winner of the Sesi Whingan Public Leadership and Governance Award. The honour was presented at the Mega Change Makers Conference, a vibrant and well attended event put together by the Lagos State Youth Ambassadors, Badagry Division.
The award, named after Hon Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, Member of the House of Representatives for Badagry Federal Constituency and Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources Upstream, celebrates outstanding contributions to civic leadership, public service, and governance. It is one of the most respected recognitions for young leaders within and beyond Lagos State.
Fisher, who currently serves as President of the Lagos State University Law Students Association, expressed deep appreciation following the announcement. In a post shared on his Facebook page, he described the honour as a testament to service and a moment that left him humbled.
He spoke glowingly of Hon Sesi Whingan, highlighting his consistent commitment to public service, youth development, community growth, and effective governance.
