Lagos LG Chairman Employs Pharmacists, Health Officers, Nurses, Laboratory Scientists, Others in New Workforce Drive

In a renewed effort to strengthen essential public services, the Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, has presented letters of employment to 181 newly re-engaged non-pensionable workers across critical sectors.

The brief but colorful ceremony held at the council secretariat symbolized Hunpe’s continued commitment to building a stronger and more efficient grassroots workforce capable of delivering quality healthcare, education, and environmental services across the historic town.

Among the newly employed are nurses, pharmacists, laboratory scientists and technicians, community health extension officers, environmental health officers, health record officers, vocational tutors, gardeners, and security personnel — all engaged to bridge manpower gaps and improve service delivery at the community level.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Hunpe emphasized his administration’s determination to provide accessible, people-focused services that meet the needs of every Badagry resident.

“Our goal is to make all primary healthcare centers fully functional while maintaining high standards of care,” he said. “We have recruited more professionals to strengthen our system and enhance service delivery. Similarly, our Cleaner Badagry Initiative is being expanded with more environmental workers, gardeners, and security personnel to safeguard and maintain council facilities.”

He urged the newly re-engaged staff to see their employment as a renewed call to serve rather than an entitlement, stressing that diligence, discipline, and professionalism would be key to their growth and recognition.

The Council Manager, Mrs. Olusanya Mary Abosede, lauded the initiative, describing it as a forward-looking step toward sustainable development. She encouraged the workers to justify the council’s trust through dedication and excellence.

Also speaking, Comrade Sapo Paul, Chairman of NULGE Badagry Local Government, commended Hon. Hunpe for his visionary leadership and advised the workers to uphold punctuality, hard work, and professionalism in their daily duties.

The recruitment of the 181 non-pensionable workers, according to the council, reflects a broader policy aimed at improving healthcare delivery, education, sanitation, and security — a clear demonstration of Hon. Hunpe’s people-oriented governance and his unwavering commitment to the progress and well-being of Badagry residents.
