Lagos Based Online Platform Releases Performance Ranking of Lagos 50 Council Chairmen After 100 Days in Office

Lagos Reporters, a Lagos-based media platform, has released it's 100 Days in Office Performance Ranking for the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across Lagos State.

The platform, known for its periodic performance assessments of political office holders at the grassroots level in Lagos State, in its latest ranking and evaluation of council chairmen, said the exercise conducted among Lagos residents, reflects the visible impact, leadership efficiency, and service delivery achievements recorded by each council chairman since assuming office.

According to Lagos Reporters, the evaluation process involved field verification, independent surveys, and data-driven analysis carried out by its investigative and monitoring team.

The team deployed field correspondents, survey officers, and data analysts to all 57 councils across the state. Both primary and secondary data sources were used to ensure fairness, transparency, and accuracy.

The councils were assessed based on seven critical indicators that define effective grassroots governance:

  3. Roads and Physical Infrastructure Development

  4. Job Creation and Economic Empowerment

  5. Environmental Sanitation and Waste Management

  6. Youth and Women Empowerment Initiatives

  7. Public Perception and Responsiveness to Residents’ Needs

Speaking on the purpose of the ranking, the Lagos Reporters editorial board emphasized that the era of passive leadership is over, and council chairmen must now be judged by visible progress, not empty promises.

“Leadership must now be about measurable progress, not promises,”
— Lagos Reporters Desk.

According to the media outfit, its correspondents documented dozens of completed and ongoing projects, including road rehabilitations, construction of health centers, renovation of schools, market improvements, empowerment initiatives, and environmental reforms — which formed the basis of the ranking.

The editorial further added that the ranking will serve as an annual benchmark to track, compare, and celebrate outstanding grassroots governance across Lagos.

“The people are watching,” the statement reads. “Every chairman must now realize that service delivery is the true scorecard of leadership. The era of warming chairs is over. It’s time to work.”

With this ranking, Lagos Reporters has once again reaffirmed its mission to hold power accountable, one council at a time.

As Lagos residents continue to expect better roads, cleaner environments, empowered youths, and transparent leadership, this independent assessment sets the tone for a new era of responsibility and competition in grassroots governance across the state.
