FG Launches Online Classes for Secondary School Students

The Federal Government has introduced a new digital learning programme aimed at giving students across Nigeria easier access to quality education. The initiative, known as Inspire Lives Online Real-Time Classes, was formally announced by the Federal Ministry of Education in a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo.

According to the ministry, the programme is designed to close long-standing gaps in the education sector, including the shortage of qualified teachers, learning disruptions, and limited access in underserved communities. By streaming live, interactive lessons directly to learners, the ministry says Inspire Lives will help ensure that no child is left out, no matter where they live or their circumstances. The initiative is also in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, confirmed that full implementation has begun and revealed that the rollout will soon cover all classes from Primary One to Senior Secondary Three. For now, the Inspire platform offers classes for Junior and Senior Secondary School students, running from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Classes are handled by certified master teachers using the Cisco Webex platform.

Subjects available for JSS students include Basic Science, Mathematics, English Language, ICT, Agricultural Science, Basic Technology, Civic Education, French, Physical Education, Religious Studies, History, and Business Studies. For SSS students, the lineup includes Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Catering Craft, Civic Education, and Automobile Mechanics.

To ensure nationwide participation, the ministry has directed all state Commissioners for Education to appoint a State Focal Officer to coordinate Inspire Lives activities and circulate programme details to principals of both public and private schools. States are also expected to provide designated schools with basic ICT facilities and internet connectivity to support smooth access to the lessons.

The ministry added that registration for the online classes must be done by school principals through the Inspire support channels. It also stressed that the programme is not limited to government-owned schools—both public and private institutions across the country are free to join.
