Tension is brewing in Badagry following allegations that an officer of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) attached to the Seme Border Command, identified as Officer Ene, assaulted a local resident during a confrontation on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
The claim was made in a social media post by the Vice Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos West, Mr. David Sunday Aladeotan, who described the incident as “unprovoked and unacceptable.”
According to his account, Officer Ene reportedly engaged in a heated argument with a road user who fled the scene. In an attempt to pursue the individual, the officer, allegedly accompanied by some soldiers, stormed a nearby community, where a resident identified as Mr. Sulaimon was allegedly beaten during the confusion.
Aladeotan condemned the act, saying it contradicts recent assurances from Assistant Comptroller A.C. Manga, who had pledged that Customs officers at the Seme Command would uphold human rights and maintain civility in their dealings with the public.
He called on the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Wale Adenuga, to launch a thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that officers found guilty of misconduct face appropriate disciplinary action.
As of the time of this report, the Seme Border Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has yet to release an official statement regarding the allegation.
