Just In: Crisis Rocks LG As Councillors Suspend Chairman Wasiu Lawal for Three Months

Tension is brewing in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State as the Legislative Council has announced the suspension of the Executive Chairman, Alhaji Wasiu Adewale Lawal (FCA), over allegations of gross misconduct.

The decision was reached during a plenary sitting of the 9th Legislative Council, where members unanimously voted to suspend the chairman for three months pending the outcome of ongoing investigations into the allegations.

In a statement signed by the Council Leader, Rt. Hon. Gbadamosi Mutairu Akanji (ACA, ACIB), the lawmakers said the move was in line with the Ogun State Local Government Administration Law, which empowers the council to enforce accountability and discipline in local governance.

“The 9th Legislative Council of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Ogun State, at its plenary sitting, has resolved to suspend the Executive Chairman, Alhaji Adewale Wasiu (FCA), for a period of three (3) months over allegations of gross misconduct,” the statement read.
