Meanwhile, there are strong indications that the alleged coup investigation may have wider implications, as military operatives recently raided the Abuja residence of former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva.
Multiple security sources disclosed that the operation was conducted by a special military team after intelligence linked a former South-South governor to secret meetings allegedly held with some of the detained officers.
Sylva has since confirmed the raid on his Maitama residence but denied any involvement in the alleged coup plot, describing the action as “a clear case of mistaken suspicion.”
The Defence Intelligence Agency has yet to make an official statement on the arrests or the ongoing investigation.
