In a bold show of support for grassroots political mobilisation, prominent Badagry-born businessman and philanthropist, Mr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, has donated a huge sum of money and logistics equipment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, aimed at strengthening the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise.
Through his foundation, Ajose provided comprehensive support to the chairmen of the 57 local government areas and local council development areas (LCDAs) in Lagos, ensuring that the voter registration exercise reaches the grassroots effectively.
The presentation, which took place at the Cathedral Church Primary School, Broad Street, Lagos, coincided with the official flag-off of the CVR exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Among the donated items were 57 HP desktop printers, 57 Lenovo laptops, 57 power generators, 57 MTN Wi-Fi devices with six months subscription, 57 electric standing fans, 57 surge protectors, 57 HP mice, and several public awareness banners. Each council chairman also received ₦200,000 in cash to facilitate local mobilisation and logistics during the six-month exercise.
Addressing the gathering, Ajose stressed the importance of citizens securing their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as the foundation of political participation. He noted that his support was inspired by the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, which he believes must be consolidated through continuity.
“The secret of continuity is to win elections,” Ajose declared. “We want this exercise to penetrate the grassroots, reach the common man, and make a positive difference in our society.”
He further explained that his gesture was motivated by the need for “massive and bulk votes” to secure the re-election of President Tinubu in 2027, arguing that another term would allow the President to continue with transformative projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Expressway and the proposed seaport in Badagry.
Party leaders present lauded Ajose’s gesture, describing it as a timely intervention that would greatly enhance APC’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
