A former All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship aspirant in Badagry West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Prince Sunday Oke, has called on the people of Badagry to throw their weight behind Mr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose (SMA) as he intensifies preparations for his 2027 Lagos governorship ambition.
Prince Oke made the appeal in a Facebook post on Friday, stressing that the time had come for Badagry to speak with one voice and rally behind one of its own in the race for Lagos’ top political seat. He described Mr. Ajose as a determined, capable, and resourceful son of the soil whose candidacy represents hope for the entire Badagry division.
The call comes barely 24 hours after Ajose formally launched the SMA Foundation in Badagry, a platform through which he pledged to give back to society and invest in education, healthcare, and economic empowerment. During the launch, the business mogul emphasized that his decision to contest for the Lagos governorship was borne out of a passion to reposition Badagry, which he said had suffered years of neglect despite being one of the five divisions—IBILE—that make up Lagos State.
Ajose further dismissed claims that Badagry lacked the financial and human capacity to produce a governor, insisting that the region is blessed with many accomplished sons and daughters who can shoulder such responsibility.
“It is annoying to hear people say Badagry does not have what it takes to produce a governor. I am here to prove that we have the human and capital resources needed to lead Lagos. I have all it takes to run and win this race,” he declared.
Echoing this sentiment, Prince Oke urged all stakeholders across the Badagry division to close ranks and give Ajose the unanimous support he needs to succeed. According to him, politics is not just about rhetoric but about channeling collective resources and energy into the right candidate.
In his words:
“As a passionate advocate for the development of Badagry, I have always believed our town is full of capable individuals who can lead Lagos State to new heights. After careful observation, I strongly believe we must unite behind Mr. Samuel Ajose in his bid for the governorship. Politics may seem complicated, but it is simply about investing in the right candidate. We can no longer depend on handouts; it is time we take charge of our future.”
Oke concluded by affirming that Ajose’s emergence could mark a turning point in Badagry’s political and developmental history, calling on residents to see his candidacy as a collective project for the good of the region.
If successful, Ajose would become the first governor of Lagos State to emerge from the historic Badagry division.
