Six Newly Recruited Female Amotekun Officers Pregnant at Training Camp

In a surprising development, six newly recruited female officers of the Ogun State Amotekun Corps have been dismissed from training after they were discovered to be pregnant.

The State Commander of Amotekun, Retired Brigadier General Alade Adedigba, made the announcement, explaining that the decision followed a routine medical examination at the training camp. The commander said the agency acted out of concern for the health and safety of the women and their unborn children.

“The kind of training we conduct is very tough and physically demanding,” he said. “We are worried that continuing under such conditions could endanger both the pregnancies and the recruits themselves.”

He noted that while it was a tough call to make, the decision was necessary. “Our goal is to ensure a safe training environment for everyone. This is part of our overall commitment to health, safety, and professionalism.”

General Adedigba praised the women for stepping up to serve and reassured them that this was not the end of the road. He said they would be welcome to reapply and complete their training after childbirth.

“As they prepare to embrace motherhood, we commend their spirit of service and look forward to welcoming them back in our next recruitment exercise,” he added.

The development comes as Amotekun continues to play a growing role in supporting security efforts across the state.
