As the race for the chairmanship of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) gathers momentum, Hon. Ajose Adebayo Peter Kumayon, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, brings to the table an impressive blend of public service, technical expertise, and grassroots political experience. With over three decades of consistent service in both the public and private sectors, Hon. Kumayon is widely regarded as a seasoned technocrat with a deep-rooted commitment to community development and environmental sustainability.

A Life of Service from the Grassroots

Born on May 31, 1965, in Mowo, Badagry, Hon. Kumayon is a proud son of Lagos State. His educational journey began at the Local Authority Primary School in Mowo, followed by Badagry Grammar School, and culminated in a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Physics (Electronics) from the University of Lagos. He has also acquired a wide range of professional certifications, including in Computer Engineering, VSAT and Fibre Optics, ticketing and reservation, and several specialized courses in environmental management, ICT, and local government administration.

Hon. Kumayon's career began in the early 1990s with Dtec Nigeria Limited, where he worked as an engineer and later as an inspector in electronic design and instrumentation. His journey into public service began in 2000 when he joined the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA). Over the years, he has served in several ministries, including Science and Technology, Establishment, Training & Pensions, and most recently, the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.

Currently serving as Deputy Director and Head of Badagry Division in the Ministry of the Environment, Hon. Kumayon is responsible for coordinating environmental enforcement across eight local government areas. His work has included monitoring illegal mining, open defecation, air and water pollution, and waste management.

Political Footprints and Community Impact

Kumayon’s political journey began in 1988 as a supporter of the defunct Liberal Convention Party. He rose through the ranks, serving as the Public Relations Officer of the People’s Front of Nigeria in 1989, and later became an active member of the Social Democratic Party. Over the years, he has held key positions, including Vice Chairman and Acting Chairman of Badagry Local Government in the mid-1990s. He was also a member of several committees focused on boundary adjustment, local government reform, and community development.

In the 2023 general elections, he served as the APC Collation Officer for Ward C in Olorunda LCDA, demonstrating his continued influence and dedication to the party and his community.
