The Lagos State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Mr. Lateef Yahaya, popularly known as WAY, as a member of the Lagos State Civil Service Commission. Yahaya, a nominee of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu from Badagry, was among several individuals approved for key positions across various state commissions during plenary on Thursday.

The confirmation followed the presentation of a report by the 12-member Ad hoc Committee on Screening of Nominees, chaired by Hon. Mojeed Fatai Adebola (Ibeju-Lekki I), which had diligently screened all nominees before forwarding its recommendations to the House.

Yahaya’s appointment into the Civil Service Commission marks a significant milestone for Badagry’s representation in Lagos State’s administrative structure. He will serve alongside four others—Mrs. Dapo-Thomas Bolade, Mr. Fatai Olalekan Lasisi, Mr. Afolabi Olatunji Sobowale, and Mr. Rufus Adekoya Adedapo—to help steer reforms and ensure merit-based progression within the state civil service.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, stated that the confirmations reflect the Assembly’s resolve to support Governor Sanwo-Olu’s vision of an inclusive, efficient, and people-focused government. “We are committed to strengthening institutions that directly impact governance and service delivery,” he said.

The Assembly also confirmed appointments into the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission, and the Governing Council of the Office of the Public Defender (OPD), reinforcing efforts to promote transparency, accountability, and professionalism in the public sector.

Yahaya’s confirmation has been met with commendations from stakeholders in Badagry, who view it as a strategic step toward increased grassroots inclusion and representation in state policymaking.
