Reconstruction work has commenced on Maseno Road in Ikoga Zebbe, Badagry Federal Constituency, following an intervention facilitated by the Member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan.
The project, facilitated through the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute, NBRRI, is part of Whingan’s ongoing efforts to attract federal infrastructure projects to communities across the constituency.
The contractor has already mobilised to the site and begun preliminary work, including the removal of makeshift structures, tents and shops encroaching on the approved road corridor to pave the way for the reconstruction.
Maseno Road is an important route serving residents, traders and commuters in Ikoga Zebbe and neighbouring communities. The completed project is expected to improve accessibility, enhance commercial activities and make the movement of people and goods safer and easier.
Speaking on the commencement of the project, Whingan said the intervention was a direct result of his continued engagement with federal institutions over the infrastructure needs of Badagry.
He said his mandate was to ensure that the concerns of constituents were properly presented and followed through until they translated into tangible development across the constituency.
According to him, good road infrastructure remains critical to economic activities, education, healthcare and the everyday lives of residents.
Whingan also assured residents that his office would continue to engage NBRRI and the contractor to monitor the project and support its timely and proper completion.
He appealed to residents, traders and other persons affected by the construction to cooperate with the contractor, particularly during the clearing of the road corridor.
The lawmaker acknowledged that temporary inconveniences may occur during the construction period but urged residents to see the disruption as part of the process of delivering lasting infrastructure for the community.
The Maseno Road reconstruction is one of several federal road interventions being pursued by Whingan, who has continued to advocate for greater federal investment in critical infrastructure across Badagry Federal Constituency.
He reaffirmed his commitment to attracting more development projects, expanding economic opportunities and improving the quality of life of residents through effective representation.
