The factional National Working Committee of the Labour Party, led by Senator Nenadi Usman, has announced the appointment of Badagry based social activist Comrade Mark Akande into the Lagos State interim executive council.
Akande, a well known grassroots advocate and civic voice in Badagry, has been named the interim Financial Secretary of the Lagos chapter, marking a significant inclusion of Badagry representatives in the ongoing restructuring efforts within the party.
The appointment, contained in a letter made available to Badagry Today, also listed other key members who will form the Lagos State interim leadership. According to the letter, Rotimi Odunaike has been appointed interim Chairman of the Lagos State Labour Party, while Emeka Ogbonna will serve as Secretary. Damilare Akinlere has been named Youth Leader, alongside several others who have been drafted into strategic positions as part of the committee.
The letter explained that the appointments were approved by the Interim National Working Committee in line with the powers granted to it by the National Executive Council during its July 18, 2025 resolution, in accordance with the Labour Party Constitution of 2019 as amended.
In a separate letter addressed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Nenadi Usman-led Labour Party also informed the national electoral body of its appointment of interim working committees for the 36 states and the FCT.
The interim structure is expected to steer the affairs of the party in Lagos State pending further decisions from the national leadership.
