Award-winning Nigerian singer and songwriter, Tiwa Savage, has opened up about her views on relationships, admitting that she wouldn’t mind becoming a second wife if it meant finding true companionship.
Speaking on a recent episode of the American podcast Lip Service, which went viral on Friday, the Afrobeats star explained that most of the men who approach her these days are either much older or already married.
“I’m like a sugar mummy, but I don’t want to be,” Tiwa said with a laugh. “If I meet someone who’s serious about marriage, they’re usually in their 50s or already taken. So maybe I can just be a second wife. I think I could handle that.”
The mother of one went on to explain that if she ever found herself in such a situation, she would keep things peaceful and drama-free, stressing that respect and harmony mean a lot to her.
“I can get along with the first wife; she’ll probably love me,” she said. “I’m not going to cause trouble. I’ll be busy on tour most of the time. I’m very respectful and would always acknowledge that she’s the first wife.”
Tiwa Savage, who shares a son with her ex-husband and former manager Tunji Balogun (popularly known as TBillz), was married in 2013 before their highly publicized separation in 2018.
Their split was followed by mutual accusations of infidelity, but since then, the “Somebody’s Son” crooner has remained focused on her music and her journey as one of Africa’s most successful female artists.
