Sesi Whingan: A Light Shining the Path of Growth and Development in Badagry, By Yemi Festus

Every generation has that one person who serves as a torchbearer—someone whose vision and actions ignite hope in the hearts of the people. For us in Badagry, Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan is that light. In the history of Badagry politics, especially in the National Assembly, we have never had it this good until now. Thanks to well-meaning Badagrians who, at one point or another, contributed to the growth and development of the Badagry Federation.

I want to borrow a common remark from one of our political leaders in Badagry: “In a short time, Hon. Sesi Whingan has done what Napoleon could not do.” To be candid, Hon. Sesi has proven that leadership is not just about occupying a seat but about touching lives and driving real development through sustainable initiatives and capacity building. From education to youth empowerment, his interventions are visible signs of progress across the Badagry Federal Constituency.

One of his remarkable initiatives that speaks volumes is the Badagry School Ride—a project designed to ease transportation challenges and reduce the burden on parents and school pupils. Today, pupils no longer have to trek long distances, sometimes under the sun or rain, just to get to school. Now, they can get to school safely and on time. For me, it’s not just about the buses—it’s hope on wheels.

Hon. Sesi has become a symbol of hope, illuminating the path toward a united and prosperous Badagry Federation. His leadership skills and approach remind us that true leadership shines brightest when it is people-centered.

As I often say, Badagry is moving forward—and I’m very proud of this development.
