Taiwo Oyedele, the head of President Bola Tinubu's tax reform team, explained that under the new tax law, it doesn’t matter where your money comes from legal or illegal. As long as you're making money, you’ll be taxed.
Speaking to members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David parish in Lagos, Mr. Oyedele said:
"If someone sleeps with men for money, that’s a service and services are taxed.
He added that the law doesn’t care about how you earn.
“It just asks: Did you make money by providing a service or selling something? Then you must pay tax.”
This move is part of the Tinubu government’s push to boost revenue from every sector, especially as Nigeria faces economic struggles. The new tax law will also affect social media influencers and remote workers earning in foreign currency.
