CAN Says: Don’t Stop Now—Keep him in Your Prayers

The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Lagos and Bishop of the Methodist Church, Dr. Stephen Adegbite, has called on Christians across the country to keep praying for President Bola Tinubu and his administration.

Speaking to journalists as the guest lecturer at the Cherubim and Seraphim (C\&S) Unification of Nigeria’s Centenary Anniversary lecture, Adegbite emphasized the importance of unity in the Church and continued prayers for national leaders.

He said, “The Church needs to stand as one. Our nation is one, and President Bola Tinubu is doing a commendable job. Churches have been praying for him, and they should not stop. With God’s grace, as we celebrate 100 years of the C\&S Church in Nigeria, the future will be bright for our country.”

Adegbite also congratulated the Supreme Head of the C\&S Unification, Dr. Solomon Adegboyega Alao, for being part of this historic milestone. He reflected on the Church’s journey, saying, “When God founded this Church through His servant Moses Orimolade, we were not there. But even with all the challenges over the past 100 years, nobody has been able to stop the C\&S Church. Our mission has always been to model holiness in Nigeria.”

He further noted that many practices now common in Pentecostal churches originated from the C\&S Church. “Until we truly understand one another and embrace unity, progress will remain difficult. We must stay united because anything else is a waste of time. Until Christ returns, the Church will continue to play its role.”

In his response, Dr. Alao, the Supreme Head of the C\&S Church, thanked the CAN Chairman and reaffirmed that the Church remains a work in progress.
