The Badagry Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (BACCIMA) has announced plans to hold its maiden trade fair in Badagry as part of efforts to transform the border town into a thriving commercial hub.
BACCIMA President, Yahaya Idris, disclosed this lastuweek during a courtesy visit to the new Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe.
He explained that the chamber was seeking a strategic partnership with the council in key areas such as youth empowerment, digital skills training, entrepreneurship, vocational education, and access to single-digit loans for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
According to him, the trade fair will serve as a platform to showcase Badagry’s business potential while also providing cross-border traders with training on customs procedures and related documentation.
According to NAN, Mr. Idris also highlighted plans for policy advocacy on infrastructure and business environment improvement, particularly in the areas of road networks, markets, and trade facilities.
He added that the initiative would extend to promoting tourism and the creative economy, positioning Badagry as both a heritage and trade tourism destination through events that blend culture and commerce.
“As a grassroots government, BACCIMA needs your support to execute some of our programmes until we are able to stand firmly on our feet,” he appealed.
Mr. Idris congratulated Hunpe on his election, describing him as a progressive leader whose tenure would drive development.
In response, Chairman Hunpe pledged his administration’s support, assuring that the council was open to collaborations that would attract investments, create jobs, and fast-track development in the town.
“Nothing is wrong with a partnership that delivers positive results,” Hunpe said.
