Tension in Bomadi as Army Officer Abducted from Lodge

BOMADI—Residents of Bomadi in Delta State are on edge following the kidnapping of a ranking army officer, Lt Colonel Josiah, from his lodge after attending a wedding in a neighboring community.

According to sources, the incident occurred in the early hours yesterday, causing panic in the riverside town. Soldiers from the Bomadi Division of the Joint Task Force (JTF) have since intensified patrols in Bomadi and surrounding areas.

Lt Colonel Josiah had attended a marriage ceremony in Kpakiama community over the weekend. After returning to his lodge in Bomadi, he was reportedly ambushed by armed kidnappers around 2 to 2:30 a.m.

“They searched every room, took the phones of lodgers, and forced the officer outside. They even fired a gun before speeding away with him in a vehicle. There was blood left on the ground after they left,” a source who spoke on condition of anonymity revealed.

The next day, the JTF reportedly recovered the kidnappers’ vehicle abandoned along the Tuomo-Ogbobagbene-Tamigbe-Torugbene-Ojobo road. The vehicle has since been moved to the Bomadi-Overside base.

Meanwhile, residents in Bomadi and nearby communities remain anxious, fearing further violence or spillover effects of the attack on ordinary citizens.
