Badagry youths from low-income families have received a major lifeline as the Samuel Mawuyon Ajose (SMA) Foundation announced the purchase of General Certificate Examination (GCE) forms worth ₦10.8 million to support their educational dreams.
In a move that has been widely hailed as a timely intervention, the foundation procured 400 GCE forms, which will be distributed across the three councils of Badagry Federal Constituency — Badagry Local Government, Badagry West LCDA, and Olorunda LCDA.
The initiative fulfills a promise made just days earlier by the foundation’s founder and Lagos State governorship hopeful in 2027, Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, during the launch of the SMA Foundation in Badagry. At the event, Ajose had pledged to kickstart his philanthropic efforts with direct educational support for young people.
True to his word, the foundation has already released funds for the procurement and distribution of the forms, paving the way for hundreds of indigent students to register for the 2025 GCE.
“This is not just a token gesture but the very first activity of the SMA Foundation,” Ajose said. “We are determined to ensure that no child in Badagry, and indeed across Lagos State, is left behind in the pursuit of quality education. This marks the beginning of our promise to Lagosians.”
The foundation disclosed that beneficiaries will begin the registration process in the coming days, with details on collection points and registration procedures expected to be made public soon.
Community leaders in Badagry have lauded the initiative, describing it as a much-needed relief for families struggling to afford examination fees. Education advocates also noted that the intervention underscores SMA’s commitment to using education as a tool for empowerment and community development.
Beyond education, Ajose has also revealed ambitious development projects designed to transform Badagry’s economic landscape. These include a 65-acre waterfront aquatic resort projected to create over 500 jobs, as well as plans to remodel the iconic Agbalata Market into an international trading hub.
Observers say that with these moves, the SMA Foundation is positioning itself as a catalyst for both educational and economic advancement in Badagry, offering hope to thousands of families in the constituency.
