Lagos LG Polls: LASIEC Releases 5 Simple Steps to Vote on Saturday

As Lagosians gear up for the much-anticipated Local Government elections scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2025, the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has released a straightforward, five-step guide to help eligible voters navigate the process with ease.

The elections, which will hold across 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), are crucial to grassroots governance and development in the state. LASIEC is urging all registered voters to turn out in large numbers and ensure their voices are heard.

Here are the five simple steps to cast your vote:

  1. Go With Your PVC
On election day, ensure you head to your designated polling unit with your Permanent Voter Card (PVC). No PVC, no voting.

  2. Get Accredited
On arrival, you will be accredited by election officials. This confirms your identity and eligibility to vote.

  3. Join the Queue
After accreditation, join the queue in an orderly manner as directed by the officials on ground.

  4. Thumbprint for Your Party of Choice
Once handed your ballot paper, proceed to the voting booth and thumbprint clearly inside the box beside the logo of the party you wish to vote for.

  5. Cast Your Vote
Carefully fold your ballot paper and drop it into the appropriate ballot box provided at the polling unit.

LASIEC has emphasized that every vote counts, and the process has been designed to be smooth, secure, and transparent.

With just hours to go, citizens are reminded that local government elections directly impact the delivery of basic services and infrastructure at the community level. Participating in this civic duty is a vital step in shaping the future of local governance in Lagos.

So, come Saturday, July 12 — go out, vote, and make it count.
