The Lagos State Police Command has announced a major review of the earlier timeline set for vehicular and waterways movement restrictions ahead of the Local Government Elections scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2025.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the restriction will now begin at 6:00 AM and end at 3:00 PM—a shift from the previously announced 3:00 AM start time.

According to the police, the decision to adjust the restriction period was made to ease the burden on residents who may have emergency medical needs or pre-scheduled international travel plans.
“This review was necessary to reduce hardship for people with critical medical emergencies and those who have had long-standing appointments to travel in or out of the country,” the statement read.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, emphasized the command’s full commitment to ensuring a peaceful, safe, and credible election process across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas of Lagos State.
Residents are encouraged to cooperate fully with security agencies, respect the new restriction window, and stay alert. The police also urged the public to report any suspicious activity through the emergency lines: 08063299264 or 08065154338.
With campaigns entering their final stretch, Lagosians are reminded that security remains a shared responsibility, and everyone has a role to play in ensuring a violence-free poll this Saturday.
