“2027 is for Asiwaju”
Ajose reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to President Tinubu’s political movement, pledging ₦500 million each to the three councils in Badagry Division—Badagry West, Badagry Central, and Olorunda LCDA. He stated that the funds are specifically earmarked to strengthen party structures, empower grassroots leaders, and fuel long-term APC dominance.
Beyond that, he also announced a ₦15 million cash donation to support Saturday’s LG elections, saying the funds would help with mobilization and logistics.
Speaking emotionally, Ajose thanked party leaders for their presence and apologized for the earlier delay in holding the meeting, attributing it to the recent passing of his beloved mother. He explained why he chose to proceed with the meeting despite being in mourning:
“My mother believed in unity, in home, and in giving. That’s why I had to be here. It’s time to invest—not only in our candidates but in our leaders.”
“Badagry Has the Capacity”
He challenged the often-repeated claim that Badagry lacks political weight and capacity:
“I’ve heard people say Badagry doesn’t have people with capacity. But today, I say it boldly—we have them. We have the brains, the finance, the structure, and most importantly, the unity of purpose.”
He pointed to Badagry’s vast potential, citing its rich crude oil deposits and a mega resort project already underway. According to him, “Badagry is the future of Lagos.”
Ajose also predicted a political revolution in which three to four Badagrians would sit in Lagos' elite Governance Advisory Council (GAC) and other high-level decision-making positions.
Leaders React
The meeting, chaired by Dr. Olaide Mesewaku, attracted major APC stakeholders including former commissioner Hon. Saka Fafunmi Senayon, who applauded Ajose’s return and leadership. Referring to a June 12 publication calling for a Badagry-born governor, Senayon said Ajose’s actions prove that strong leadership can indeed emerge from within.
Hon. Bamgbose Hontonyon Joseph praised Ajose as a rare son giving back:
“He told me, ‘I don’t want Badagry to remain behind anymore. It’s time to give back.’”
Hon. Olatunde Joseph of Olorunda LCDA described the moment as historic, stating:
“We often run to Lagos for help. But today, help has come from one of our own. Let’s use this support wisely and double our votes on Saturday.”
Leader M.Z. Ogunbiyi added:
“Ajose may be the first man in modern political history to unite Badagry’s political class like this. God has brought a son to bridge the gap.”
Alhaja Kikelomo Ladipo, the Badagry LGA Woman Leader, hailed a new dawn for the region:
“Ajose is shifting the paradigm. And others like him are coming. But we must all rise—not just party members.”
A Moment of Silence and Praise
To close the meeting, Hon. Olusegun Onilude, Chairman of Badagry LGA, led a one-minute silence in honour of Ajose’s late mother. He commended Ajose’s decision to press on with the meeting despite mourning:
“Even in your grief, you chose to remember your home. That speaks volumes. You’ve written your name in gold today.”
He assured the donor that APC is ready for victory and that Badagry will stand firmly behind Ajose moving forward.
United Front for 2027 and Beyond
Among those in attendance were chairmanship candidates Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, Hon. Rauf Yemaren (RIKAY), and Hon. Ajose Kumayon, as well as serving council chairmen Hon. Olusegun Onilude and Hon. Gbenu Joseph.
Other key figures included Hon. Amida Abudu, Hon. Sejoro, Hon. Yahaya Lateef (Lagos State Civil Service Commissioner), Chief Frederick Ajaneson, and Hon. Tafa Dada.
Speaking on behalf of the three chairmanship candidates, Hon. Ajose Kumayon summed up the mood in the hall:
“Your bold investment is not just in APC—it’s in the future of Badagry. And we will not disappoint.”
