A powerful wave of support is building behind Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, as a coalition of youth leaders from Nigeria’s North Central zone has endorsed him as their preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
The endorsement came during a high-profile press conference in Abuja last week, organized by the Youth for the Actualization of North Central President (YANCP) — a fast-growing political movement focused on equity, inclusion, and regional justice.
Chants of “North Central for President!” echoed through the hall as YANCP’s National Coordinator, Comrade Ibrahim Musa, took the stage to deliver what many described as a passionate and historic address.
“The North Central has bled, sacrificed, and stood firm at every critical juncture in Nigeria’s history,” Musa declared. “Yet, when it comes to leading the nation, we’ve been consistently sidelined. That must change — and in Dr. Olawepo-Hashim, we have found the leader to make it happen.”
Dr. Olawepo-Hashim, a respected businessman and elder statesman, is no stranger to national politics. Once a presidential candidate and former deputy national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he is widely recognized as one of the foundational figures in Nigeria’s democracy movement.
According to the youth coalition, it is this unique blend of activism, political experience, and business acumen that makes him stand out.
“We are tired of recycled politics,” said YANCP’s National Secretary, Fatima Tanko. “Dr. Hashim brings intellectual depth, economic foresight, and moral clarity. He’s not just from the North Central — he’s for all Nigerians.”
The group emphasized that their support transcends party lines and personal interest. For them, the 2027 race is about righting historical wrongs and offering the country a unifying, forward-thinking leader.
Dr. Olawepo-Hashim, known for his pan-Nigerian outlook and strong advocacy for youth inclusion, has yet to formally declare his candidacy. But with endorsements like this gaining national attention, many believe he could become a major contender in the race to Aso Rock.
As the 2027 election draws closer, movements like YANCP are signaling a generational shift — and Dr. Olawepo-Hashim may be at the center of it.
