Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given a clear charge to him, the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to deliver a resounding victory in the forthcoming local government elections in Lagos State.
Speaking in a video clip obtained by Badagry Today shortly after a strategic meeting with the President and the GAC, led by elder statesman Chief Tajudeen Olusi, Governor Sanwo-Olu disclosed that the President’s directive was firm and focused on party unity and success at the grassroots level.
“He charged us to go and do our very best in the forthcoming local government elections and ensure our party’s flag flies high,” Sanwo-Olu said, reaffirming the APC’s commitment to maintaining its dominance across all local councils in Lagos.
The high-level meeting came amid swirling rumours of a rift between Governor Sanwo-Olu and President Tinubu—speculations the governor dismissed outright. Addressing the matter, Sanwo-Olu stated, “There’s no rift. Some people just want to be more Catholic than the Pope and cry more than the bereaved.”
He described his relationship with the President as cordial, stressing that the focus remains on good governance, grassroots development, and upholding the legacy of excellence in Lagos politics that President Tinubu himself helped to establish.
As political activities intensify ahead of the LG polls, Sanwo-Olu’s remarks provide clarity and reinforce the APC’s readiness to approach the elections as a united front, guided by the firm support and leadership of President Tinubu.
