Former member of the House of Representatives for Badagry Federal Constituency, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) shadow election for the chairmanship of Badagry Local Government.
The primary election, which held at the party’s state secretariat in Ikeja, saw Hunpe secure 16 delegate votes, edging out his closest rival, Hon. Avoseh Hodewu Suru, who garnered 10 votes.
The shadow poll was conducted ahead of the official local government elections slated for July 12, 2025, as announced by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).
A video from the event, which circulated on social media Saturday evening, captured jubilant supporters celebrating Hunpe’s victory, marking his return to frontline local politics after his tenure at the National Assembly.
Hunpe’s win positions him as the APC's flagbearer in the forthcoming LG elections, where he will face candidates from other political parties in the bid to steer the affairs of the historic coastal local government.
More details are expected as preparations intensify ahead of the July polls.
