Police Nab Suspected Killer of Badagry Motorcyclist Found Mutilated in Ogun Forest, Suspect Makes Horrifying Confessions

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested Avoseh-Jofin Gbehunu, popularly known as “Banga Ifa,” the man suspected to be behind the gruesome murder and mutilation of Afesomu Amos, a commercial motorcyclist from Vetho-Ajara, Badagry, new report according to News Peddlers states

The arrest brings an end to a tense, week-long manhunt for a man long feared and described by locals as a “serial killer” who had managed to slip through justice’s fingers for years.

The tragic story began on the night of Friday, October 24, 2025, when Amos left home after telling his wife he was taking a passenger from Erekiti to Ado-Odo, Ogun State. Not long after, his phone went dead, and that was the last time anyone heard from him.

By the next morning, worry turned to panic. “On Saturday, I was told my brother was missing,” said Afesomu Samuel, the victim’s younger brother. “I went straight to the police station to report.”

Officers at the Badagry Police Division responded quickly. Their investigation led to the recovery of Amos’s motorcycle and the arrest of three men caught trying to sell it. Under questioning, the suspects denied stealing it, claiming instead that a certain “Banga” had handed it over to them to sell.

Police soon uncovered the man behind the name: Avoseh-Jofin Gbehunu, a native of Athome Tafa-Vawe in Ogun State. As investigators dug deeper, disturbing stories began to emerge.

“Gbehunu was known to be a dangerous killer, he even murdered his own father,” a source told News Peddlers. Another insider alleged that Gbehunu’s child narrowly escaped being killed by him, while others claimed he was often seen with human body parts. He had reportedly been arrested several times but somehow always found his way out of custody.

The manhunt reached its climax on Thursday, October 30, 2025, when police operatives traced Gbehunu to the Makoko area of Lagos. Acting on intelligence, a special team surrounded his hideout and moved in after several hours of surveillance. By late afternoon, the notorious fugitive was in handcuffs.

Following his arrest, Gbehunu reportedly confessed to killing Amos. He led investigators to the Ikogale-Obakobe forest area in Ado-Odo, Ogun State, where the decomposed remains of the victim were found the next day.

The scene was horrifying. “When I saw my brother’s body, I broke down,” Samuel recounted painfully. “His arms were cut off, his eyes were gone, and his private parts were missing.”

During further interrogation, one of the accomplices revealed the chilling details of Amos’s murder. “Banga brought Seyido (Amos) to us and said the man had offended him and must die,” the suspect confessed.

He described how Oye, another accomplice, strangled the victim with a rope while Banga twisted his neck to ensure he was dead. The group then mutilated the body, with Gbehunu allegedly boasting, “We’ll be rich for the rest of this month.”

The brutal killing has left two families in deep sorrow. While commending the police for their swift action, Samuel appealed for the case to be pursued to the very end, stressing that Gbehunu must not escape justice again.

For Afesomu Rebecca, the victim’s widow and mother of six, life has been turned upside down. The small-scale soap seller now faces the burden of raising her children alone.

“This is a pain I’ll never get over,” she said tearfully. “How do I care for six children by myself? I’m scared even to stay in this community anymore.”

She appealed to well-meaning Nigerians for help to sustain her business and care for her family, as she struggles to rebuild what remains of her life after the devastating loss.
