Badagry-born agribusiness advocate and founder of Nigeria’s annual Coconut Festival (Agunkefest), Prince Mesi Doheto George, has been appointed by the Office of the President of Ghana as a member of the African Coconut Board (AFC0B).
The appointment, made under Ghana’s Directorate for Presidential Initiatives in Agriculture and Agribusiness (PIAA), is part of efforts to advance coconut development and strengthen its value chain across the African continent, report by Citymood Badagry says
Prince Mesi will serve on the Interim Management Board of the African Coconut Board, which has been tasked with developing the institutional and operational framework for the continental organization. The Board aims to harmonize initiatives among African nations to boost trade, create employment, and improve livelihoods through the coconut sector.
Representing Nigeria, Prince Mesi is expected to bring his wealth of experience in agribusiness, policy advocacy, and stakeholder engagement to the drafting of the Board’s Constitution, Governance Structure, and Implementation Roadmap.
Renowned for his pioneering work in promoting coconut farming and tourism through Agunkefest, Prince Mesi’s appointment is widely seen as a recognition of his outstanding contributions to the growth of the coconut value chain in Nigeria and beyond.
