The National Association of Badagry Students (NABAS) has issued a clarion call to all eligible students within the Badagry axis to take advantage of the Federal Government’s interest-free Student Loan Scheme, administered by the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), ahead of the 2025/2026 academic session.
Speaking on Friday, NABAS President, Comrade Gbeyon Ayomide Sewenu, expressed concern over the low number of applications from students in the South West, despite the programme’s enormous benefits.
“This is an opportunity our students cannot afford to miss,” Sewenu stressed. “NELFUND is not just about paying tuition; it’s about empowering students with the financial stability to focus entirely on their education without the crushing burden of debt or complex application processes.”
Under the scheme, beneficiaries enjoy:
-
Full tuition coverage for the duration of their studies.
-
Monthly upkeep allowance of ₦20,000 for feeding, transportation, books, and other daily needs.
-
Zero interest — students repay only the exact amount received.
-
No guarantor requirement, with eligibility based solely on verified student status.
-
Flexible repayment, starting two years after NYSC or upon securing employment.
Simple Online Application
Applicants are required to visit the official portal https://nelf.gov.ng, create an account using their JAMB Registration Number, Matriculation Number, and National Identification Number (NIN), then complete the online form with personal, academic, and bank details before uploading necessary documents such as their admission letter and school ID card.
Early applications, Sewenu noted, enjoy priority processing and quicker disbursement of funds.
NABAS further urged all qualified Badagry students to act promptly and spread awareness within the community to ensure no eligible student is left behind.
For further inquiries or assistance with the application process, students can contact NABAS officials via WhatsApp at 07030609948 or 07011833569.
“This is a golden ticket to uninterrupted education,” Sewenu concluded. “Badagry must not be left behind in this life-changing initiative.”
