JAMB Sets 150 as Minimum Cut-Off Mark for University Admissions

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially pegged the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Nigerian universities at 150 for the upcoming academic session.

This update was shared on JAMB’s official X handle (formerly Twitter) following a meeting with key stakeholders, including heads of tertiary institutions across the country.

According to the post, the cut-off marks were agreed upon to streamline the admission process into various categories of higher institutions. For polytechnics and colleges of education, the minimum score has been set at 100, while colleges of nursing sciences will admit candidates with scores from 140 and above.

“The minimum admissible scores for admissions for the next academic session have been fixed at 150 for universities, 100 for polytechnics, 100 for colleges of education and 140 for colleges of nursing sciences by the stakeholders (Heads of Tertiary Institutions),” the post read.

The decision is expected to guide institutions in their 2025/2026 admission processes, ensuring transparency and uniformity in entry requirements across the board.

JAMB’s annual policy meeting is a platform where admission guidelines and cut-off marks are jointly reviewed and decided by relevant education stakeholders.
