Renowned journalist and prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Dele Momodu, has officially resigned from the party.
The surprising move comes just a day after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar announced his resignation from the PDP to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Momodu, a longtime ally of Atiku, is widely expected to follow in his political footsteps by also aligning with the ADC.
In a letter addressed to the party leadership, Momodu stated that the PDP has been "hijacked by anti-democratic forces", while hinting at the need for a new political direction.
Dele Momodu’s exit marks another major blow to the PDP, which has recently witnessed a wave of defections from top-ranking members. His departure is expected to further energize the growing coalition being built around the ADC, as political realignments ahead of the next general elections continue to reshape Nigeria’s political landscape.
Political observers say the ADC is fast becoming a serious contender in national politics, especially with influential figures like Atiku Abubakar and now Dele Momodu rallying behind it.
As Nigeria edges closer to a new electoral cycle, all eyes are now on the ADC — and the new alliance it’s forging — to see what impact it will make on the national stage.
