A 20-year-old man, Idowu Abdullahi, who reportedly roamed the Ajara-Topa area without a fixed address, has been arraigned before the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing property worth ₦105,000.

The defendant is facing charges of burglary and stealing after allegedly breaking into a mechanic's workshop at Olayinka Street, Ajara-Topa, on the night of June 16 around 11:00 p.m.

According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, Abdullahi was accused of unlawfully entering the workshop of one Sunday Avoseh through a window with the intent to steal. He allegedly made away with an auxiliary hanger valued at ₦35,000 and a car battery worth ₦70,000.

“The total value of the stolen items is ₦105,000,” Ekpo told the court, adding that the defendant was apprehended and handed over to the police for prosecution.

The offences, the prosecutor said, are contrary to Sections 308 and 287 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.

Abdullahi, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
