In a major move to consolidate its campaign machinery ahead of the July 12 local government elections in Lagos State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Olorunda Local Council Development Area has officially constituted its campaign committee.
The announcement, made today, Thursday, June 26th 2025 at the party secretariat in Atura, Araromi-Ale, saw the immediate past council chairman, Hon. Samson Folorunso Olatunde, popularly known as Samola, appointed as Chairman of the campaign committee, while Hon. Akin Ajayi, a former Executive Secretary of the LCDA, was named as the Director-General. Party stalwart Mr. Jimoh Amosu, fondly called Colour, will serve as Deputy Director-General.
The appointments were formally announced by the Olorunda APC Chairman, Hon. Ebenezer Babalola, who charged the committee with the task of securing a decisive victory for the party’s Chairmanship candidate, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, his running mate Hon. Bolaji Adele Solomon, and all Councillorship candidates across the five wards in the LCDA.
Babalola called on party members to put aside differences stemming from the primaries and rally behind the candidates, saying the unity and performance of the party in Olorunda would reflect its preparedness for the 2027 general elections.
“Victory in Olorunda is not just about the council — it’s a signal to Nigerians that the APC remains strong and united ahead of 2027,” Babalola stated. “We must embrace party supremacy and give our full support to all candidates.”
In his remarks, Hon. Samson Olatunde echoed the party chairman’s message, urging committee members and party faithful to close ranks and focus on delivering a resounding win.
“We have always set the pace in Olorunda,” Samola said. “Now is the time to improve on our past victories. Let us work with unity and renewed zeal to ensure our candidates emerge victorious.”
Campaign DG Hon. Akin Ajayi, while accepting his appointment, promised to lead an inclusive, grassroots-focused campaign. He also called on aggrieved members to reconcile in the interest of the party.
“Let us bury the hatchet,” Ajayi appealed. “We must work as one APC family to deliver our candidates. The choice of Hon. Peter Kumayon as our flagbearer is a reflection of the party’s decision, and we must stand by it.”
