The Street Got Talent Eko Edition has brought together some of the most promising young talents from across Lagos State in a colourful celebration of creativity, ambition and youth empowerment.
The event, held at Ikotun Roundabout on Friday, September 18, featured young talents who emerged as finalists from the five divisions of Lagos State, turning the streets into a vibrant stage for music, entertainment and creative expression.
Beyond the excitement and performances, the programme was designed as a platform to discover and amplify raw talents from the streets, engage young people positively and connect them with opportunities capable of transforming their passions into sustainable careers.
The initiative, sponsored by the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, also highlighted the administration’s efforts to take youth development beyond conventional spaces and directly into communities where young people live and express their talents.
The programme provided a platform for young Lagosians to be seen, heard and supported, while encouraging them to believe that their dreams can become a reality when given the right opportunities and support.
The event also featured empowerment initiatives aimed at supporting young people in the informal sector, including the distribution of point of sale POS terminals, mobile phones and cash support to selected beneficiaries.
The empowerment component further demonstrated the focus on moving beyond talent discovery to providing practical tools that can help young people start or strengthen small businesses and become economically productive.
The organisers commended Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his commitment to youth development, inclusivity and the creation of opportunities for young Lagosians, particularly those who may face barriers to accessing conventional opportunities.
Special appreciation was also extended to the sponsors, Ace Royal, FCMB, Moniepoint and RAK Development Foundation, for their support towards the successful staging of the Eko Edition.
With its blend of talent discovery, entertainment and economic empowerment, the Street Got Talent Eko Edition demonstrated that the streets of Lagos are not short of talent, but require platforms that can discover, nurture and connect that talent to opportunities.
