Residents of Olorunda Local Council Development Area in Badagry have received a major boost in electricity supply following the distribution of five 500kva transformers by the member representing Badagry Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Bonu Solomon Saanu.

The transformers were presented to benefiting communities including White House Community Development Association in Ilado, Òkè Agbon Kekere Community in Obele Mushin Esepe area, Idiorogbo community in Imeke, while Atinplome community received two units. Notably, Atinplome, which lies in Badagry Constituency II where the lawmaker resides, also benefited from the gesture despite being outside his immediate constituency.

Speaking during the distribution, Bonu said the intervention was driven by persistent appeals from residents grappling with inadequate power supply. He explained that the demand for transformers increased significantly following his role in facilitating the restoration of electricity to Badagry West after years of blackout.

According to him, the recent visit of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, who represented Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu at the commissioning of the Badagry West re-electrification project, provided an opportunity to further push the demands of the people.

Bonu disclosed that he raised the issue of transformer shortages with the Deputy Governor, which led to the allocation of the five units through the support of the state government. He expressed appreciation to Governor Sanwo-Olu and his deputy for their swift response to the needs of communities in Olorunda LCDA.

The lawmaker also used the occasion to make a strong political statement, calling on residents to sustain their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He specifically urged constituents to back the member representing Badagry Federal Constituency, Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, whom he described as a key figure in the future political landscape of Lagos State.

Community leaders and residents who witnessed the distribution lauded the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful, with expectations that it will significantly improve power supply and economic activities across the benefiting areas.
