Badagry was thrown into mourning following the death of Mr. Moses Sejlo Samuel, father of Dr. Sewedo Olalekan Samuel, the Private Secretary to the Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe. The late Mr. Samuel passed on at the age of 71.
The sad news was personally announced by Dr. Sewedo Olalekan Samuel via his Facebook page, where he also shared details of the burial arrangements for the deceased.
According to the family, a Service of Songs will hold on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 5:00pm at the Cathedral Church of Saint Thomas, Badagry. This will be followed by the Funeral Service on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 11:00am at the same venue.
Reacting to the loss, the Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, expressed deep shock and sorrow over the passing of Mr. Moses Sejlo Samuel, describing it as an irreparable loss not only to the Samuel family but to the wider community.
In his condolence message, Hon. Hunpe noted that the late Mr. Samuel, fondly called Captain, was a man of peace, integrity, and strong moral character. He described him as dignified, respectful, and deeply committed to every cause he embraced, adding that he was a loving father, devoted family man, committed community leader, and a faithful servant of God.
The council chairman said Mr. Samuel lived an exemplary and honourable life and would be greatly missed by all who knew him, stressing that his legacy would continue through the values he upheld and the lives he touched.
Hon. Hunpe, on behalf of his family, the management, and staff of Badagry Local Government, extended heartfelt condolences to the Samuel family, praying for divine strength, comfort, and mercy for them in this difficult time. He also prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the departed.
Mr. Moses Sejlo Samuel is survived by his children and loved ones, as the Badagry community joins the family to bid farewell to a man remembered for honour, service, and faith.
