Troops Kill 15 Terrorists in Katsina, Arrest 13 in Kaduna, Recover Weapons in Benue

Nigerian Army troops have intensified operations across the North, killing 15 terrorists in Katsina, arresting 13 suspects in Kaduna, and recovering arms from armed herders in Benue between Friday and Saturday.

A source at the Army Headquarters told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that coordinated air and ground offensives targeted terrorists’ hideouts at Zango High Ground in Kankara Local Government Area, Katsina. The operations, backed by airstrikes, left 15 terrorists dead and several others wounded, according to intercepted communications.

In Kaduna, troops from 1 Division Garrison, working with the police and other security agencies, raided criminal hideouts in Unguwan Dosa, Unguwan Yero, Kwaru, and Majalisa. Thirteen suspects were arrested with illicit drugs during the operation.

Troops also foiled terrorist activities in Sokoto’s Sabon Birni and Wurno LGAs, rescuing a driver and recovering his vehicle. In Kaura Village, however, locals lynched four suspected terrorists, while three others were rescued and handed over to the police.

In Benue, Operation Whirl Stroke forces killed one armed herder during clearance operations in Logo LGA and recovered an AK-47 rifle, 19 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and other items. Troops also intervened in clashes in Kwande and Guma LGAs, helping to calm tensions and evacuating an injured farmer to hospital.

According to the Army, troops remain on aggressive patrols across all theatres to deny terrorists freedom of action and to safeguard lives and property.
