The Lagos State Police Command has begun investigating a viral video allegedly showing students of Excel College, Ejigbo, smoking, drinking, and dancing inside their hostel.
According to Vanguard The video, said to have been recorded in April 2025 but only recently shared online, has sparked outrage among parents and education stakeholders.
In reaction, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to take over the case from the Ejigbo Division, which had earlier invited the school’s principal for questioning.
According to police sources, the principal—who also owns the school—claimed the students in the video had already graduated. He added that the school is working closely with investigators to uncover how the incident happened.
Meanwhile, the police have urged schools, parents, and guardians to take stronger measures in guiding young people, stressing the importance of discipline, moral values, and responsible behavior.
“The Command remains committed to ensuring peace, security, and order across Lagos State,” said Police spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi.
