Lagos Emerges Winner of Southwest LGNA Public Primary Schools Debate

Lagos State has taken the crown at the Southwest LGNA Public Primary Schools Debate Competition.

The contest, held at Fish Farm, Ogudu, Lagos, featured brilliant young debaters from Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti, and Lagos. The pupils tackled the topic: “Unregulated social media access can cause more harm than good to society.”

At the end of the keenly contested debate, Lagos emerged winner and received a prize of two million naira.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Jakande expressed pride in the initiative, describing it as one of his most fulfilling projects.

“My involvement in this project is one of my proudest achievements. It costs money, but I’m fulfilled because I’m passionate about it. I also thank our partners for their support. I’m very glad we made this happen,” he said.

Deputy National President of the Forum of Heads of Administration of Local Governments in Nigeria, Dr. Olujobi Adegbola, commended the initiative, noting that such competitions prove the competence of teachers and the potential of public school pupils. He emphasized the need for moderation in social media use to safeguard society.

Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board, Prof. Femi Akinwumi, described the programme as a worthy investment in education.

“We value everything that builds education. It sharpens the intellect of our children. I commend the organisers for this wonderful programme, and I hope the government continues to support such initiatives,” he said.
