Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have taken away the wife and daughter of Alhaji Muhammad Swasun, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The victims, identified as Hajiya Fatima and her daughter Amina, were abducted on Sunday night in the Sakpefu area.
Sources told Vanguard that the attackers, numbering about five, scaled the fence of the chairman’s residence and fired several gunshots to scare residents. They reportedly forced their way into one of the rooms, found the wife and daughter, and whisked them away at gunpoint.
A party executive who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed the incident.
“It’s true. Our chairman’s wife and daughter were kidnapped last night. He told me he narrowly escaped being taken himself. The gunmen broke into his compound, shooting into the air, then went straight to the room where his family was and abducted them,” he said.
It was gathered that the operation lasted several minutes before the assailants fled with their captives to an unknown location.
When contacted, Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adekimi Ojo, said he had not yet been briefed on the matter.
